December 2009 Update

Sorry for not updating the website for quite some time.

We had more problems in our last weekend of racing in Show Low than we have had in recent memory. With those problems came the end of our racing rope. We all get burned out from time to time, and this was our time. We have since the end of the season sold one of our micros and are in the process of selling the other. The reason for selling is to update our cars to newer technology. We have had these cars about two years longer than we like to keep 'em around. Getting new micro's is definitely good news for the team. Next season is still up in the air as far as a schedule goes. We are sure that there are couple of shows that we will hit up here and there, but as of now we are planning on taking the year off and/or running a very limited racing schedule until it is time to head to Tulsa for the "Tulsa Shoot-out" and the Chili Bowl. Yes, right now there are talks of doing both events. That is if it gets by the team owner first and the motor situation is figured out with the midget. We do have one race in February on the schedule..... it is an asphalt race in Blythe California with the micro. Wholesale changes are going to be made to switch the car over from dirt to asphalt for sure. There is a practice scheduled for February 6th and racing is scheduled for the 27th. It is definitely going to be a learning experience for us and sure to be a good time. Thanks for your interest in our team and we will be sure to update the schedule for the season as it goes along. Thanks again and GOD Bless.

Show Low's One Nighter

There's not much to say about the Show Low trip other than self inflicted problems were to be had all night long.

We changed the carbs on the 10 car to see if we could hustle a little more oomph out of the motor. During Hot Laps we could not get the car to get passed 13,900 rpm's. We came in and immediately and rejetted the carbs thinking that it was a fat stumble on the top end. We led the first lap of the the trophy dash and got passed by the always fast Austin Quick and decided to pull in because we couldn't get passed 13,900 RPM's again. We rejetted the carbs again. We went out for the heat to find the same problems again. We ended up with a lucky second place finish in the heat and decided that we had enough of the carb problems and put on a new set. Problem solved. We then noticed that the water pump was cracked and was leaking all over the place. Thanks the Quinn group and their great sportsmanship we were able to borrow a new cover and get the car out for the main event. We opted to tag the main event and were only able to make it to a 7th place finish in a race that went green to checkers. It's kinda hard to get any more positions  when you don't get any yellows to bunch the field back up. We for sure gave it out all and look forward to the month off because we need to get some maintenance done to these hot rods! Thanks for your interest in SLIDE JOB RACING! GOD Bless

Racing on August 1st 2009

Back to Show Low's Thunder Raceway for another round of winged micro racing on August 1st. We will be packing both cars into the trailer and setting the club Prez in the seat of the 00 car in order to get a car count. We aren't anticipating a large car count for a single night show that is so far away from home. We figure that most of the points contenders and points chasers will be in attendance and a couple of cars on top of that. Being how we are doing the 'ole point chasing gig we are going. Our good friends Ronnie Smith and Tom Ball will be there with their group in the sprint cars. Points are kinda tight right now in the AMSA and we have decided to only lug the micro's up the hill and curbing our original plan of one micro and the 360 sprinter. We are leaving Friday evening and coming home after the races Saturday night. Wish us luck and as always.....Thanks for your interest in SLIDE JOB RACING. GOD Bless

Prescott's Results from July 17/18

We spent the weekend worried about rain showers and had fun doing it. Prescott Valley's PVR was where we were with the AMSA group. Ken was in his usual seat in the 10 car and Cliff Cormany was behind the wheel of the 00 for the weekend. We have been doing some points racing lately and it kinda nipped us this weekend. Track conditions for both nights were extremely rough for our little cars. The bumps and ruts were big enough to send the cars in the air with all fours off of the ground and really scramble things on the track. We decided to tag Friday night's show and made it up to 6th which was a decent night as far as points went. Saturday, not so much. We were scheduled to start on the outside poll position and opted to tag the field again. The 10 car looked as if it rocketed it's way up to 9th in no time flat and then nothing. Ken just couldn't get a line to get by the 16 car of Mike Visser. We did feel as if we settled for the 9th but hey, that's how it goes sometimes. Click on read more for the run down of the results.

O God, You gave us a son, and in Your wisdom and love have called him home to You before us. Please listen to our humble prayer: pardon his sins and faults, and grant that we may be reunited safely in Your Presence. Through Your Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ, we beg this of You. Amen.
