Slide Job Racing will be at Canyon Speedway Park on June 13th with the AMRA Midget. Ken has been offered a ride in a factory stock as well. Not forgetting where it is that we came from (the stock car ranks) we think that it will be a pretty good time to get back into a stock car and have some fun with old friends that are still running. We hope that the midget will have it's bugs worked out and that we have a good time in it as well. Come on out and support your local dirt track and cheer us on. Thanks for your interest in SLIDE JOB RACING. GOD Bless.

After Manzy's "Last Dance" the team was a little worn out as well as depressed that the closing actually happened. Going to the races or even working on any of the race cars was too depressing to even think about.

A few weeks ago we did end up out in the shop hustling around trying to get the midget ready to go to New Mexico only to find that we need a new bladder for the fuel cell. This is a pretty big expense and we decided that It was too much of an expense to pay on top of the 535 mile trip to Hollywood Hills. That idea was squashed.

Our good friend Ronnie Smith was planning on racing in Show Low, Az at Thunder Raceway in a race that was co-sanctioned by ASCA and NMMRA and asked us to go up and play. Our sprint car needed a new rear bumper and we were unable to acquire one in time to take it up the hill to Show Low. With the sprint sidelined we decided to go up anyway and hang out the Ronnie and T-Ball and throw the micros into the trailer and play around with some old friends in the AMSA group.

Unfortunately both nights were canceled due to rain. Mud packing was just getting done on Saturday when the rains came and we made it all the way to "Hot Laps" on Sunday before the rains ruined things.

If we can get the midget bladder situation and engine problems worked out we will be heading to Canyon Speedway Park with the AMRA on June 13th. Come on out and support your local dirt track and cheer us on. As always.... Thanks for your support and interest in SLIDE JOB RACING. GOD Bless.

Friday April 10th Rained out after heat races!

We got the Midget running pretty good around Manzy's short track Friday night. We started in the back of our heat and we were battling for the top 3 spots for a few laps until I decided to try the top side for the lead and did not have any race track to hold on to. We settled for a 5th place finish in the heat. We were slotted to start 10th for the "A" Main  but the rains came as we were sitting in staging waiting to go out. Saturday morning we woke up to more rain and headed to the track anyway. The track crew was working diligently to get the track in racing order but one cell decided to dump more rain on the track and that was all she wrote. The races are rescheduled for Easter Sunday. Gates open at 11am and races start at 2pm. Half of our crew will not be able to attend.... so we may end up running 2 of the three cars so we don't get overwhelmed. See you at the races.

Almost ready.

A sad day is coming oh so fast. We almost have all of the cars prepared and ready to go. As of Monday night we have about another 6-10 hours of work left to do. There are few nerves running as we get ready for Manzy's last dance. We are going out in the midget of Friday night to pretty much get the car dialed in for Saturday in a race that was added for Haley's laps for Leukemia. Any time that there are charitable things happening we try to get involved. We are hoping for a fun and pleasant evening at the track.

Saturday is going to be a really sad one as it is the last day that the historical track will be open. I can't believe after 58 years Manzanita is closing. We are not expectiong too much as far as results.... just going out to have fun one last time..

Triple Duty?

Ken will not be doing double duty at the last race at the world famous Manzanita Speedway. A triple dip of the Gordon Seros powered Sawyer  number 10 micro, the 00 Fontana powered Ellis midget and the 00 Chevy powered Buckley ASCS 360 sprint car. We are hoping that the final night of racing at Manzy will prove to be one of the most fun times we have ever had at the race track. Come on out and cheer us on as we will be going full tilt in every race. Hopefully the night goes off without a hitch. See you on the 11th.

O God, You gave us a son, and in Your wisdom and love have called him home to You before us. Please listen to our humble prayer: pardon his sins and faults, and grant that we may be reunited safely in Your Presence. Through Your Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ, we beg this of You. Amen.
